Granpa Perkanzetta

Illustrator, then exported to Flash. Instead of just doing colors I decided to make an animatable model for future use. Hope you like... crits and comments welcomed.

Yesterday I was drawing with my nephew and I had him give me character descriptions and we both drew the characters according to his description. He's 9 and he had some very interesting ideas. His drawings were pretty good too, however he didn't want me to post them on my site, cause he didn't want to show anybody. He actually draws better than a lot of people i've seen on the net, but he's a kid so I didn't want to push him too much. It was really fun. I promised him i'd color these and make them look better. Hope ya like.... I may have scanned them in too hi a res.

March of Dimes Shirt

Did this today. Got word of it yesterday, and started some sketches this morning. After I got the approval, I proceeded to finish the work. I had trouble figuring out how to do the halftones for the image, but got that taken care of and this is the final.

I wish I had more time to push the concept even more, but the deadline was tight on this one... maybe next time.

BTW this was for March of Dimes walk that my company participates in every year. This is my first time doing the shirt for them so I'm not too sure what they've done in the past. I think they may have just printed words on a shirt and that was it.

Shaft Char color #1

Continuing in my Shaft themed cartoon. I haven't a name for this guy yet. He's more or less a Preppy kinda gangster, at least in dress. I thought about doing some panels for this, but not sure if time will allow.

I was looking at my Shaft ..whatyo mouth..I'm talking bout John shaft... I digress. I was looking at my JS character and decided to doodle some possible character designs to go with it... I'm thinking about doing a panel or 2 ... who knows?

These were done in PS I may do some more later... and maybe a few finished ones to boot.

Didn't much like the coloring on this... just wanted to output something since I won't be uploading anything the rest of this week. Done in PS.

Bubby

This'll be my last post for this week. This guy is called Bubby, cause I couldn't think of anything else. He has a very passive taste in colors, but don't let his demure girlish color selection fool ya. He's 300 pounds of bone crushing masculinity.

Doodles 4

Wednesday on my last post I had gotten some bad news so I made a drawing reflecting that. The top 2 pics were from the same day... the top most was still in relation to how I was feeling, the 2nd was a brighter outlook so to speak. Earlier this morning I got some even worse news, so they sort of reflect my emotions... 3 represents the shock call and 4 represents having a weight on oneself; more or less a heavy feeling. Just doodling to occupy time... these images are larger than reflected... had to shrink them down for web use.

Who is the man. that would risk his neck for his brother man?

This is my man John Shaft.... hush yo mouth... I'm talking bout Shaft baby. This is by no means a caricature of Richard Roundtree. This would be my cartoon version of that bad mutha Shaft.

This is in homage to Gordon Parks, the director of Shaft and the Learning Tree. He recently died, and I was watching a documentary on him via cable. This is just a small tribute to an excellent world citizen who was very influential in portraying America and the underprivileged through film.

Last night I thought up a story to get myself inspired to draw. I developed a small story line before dosing off. Whilst asleep I thought up some ideas for the main character. And this was what was in my mind. A simple design. I'll let you determine what his personality is like. I'll do some other faces later as I get the story underway. I'm by no means a writer so hopefully I'll get some of my talented friends to flesh out the story. More on that later. This was done in illustrator.

I've sketched up some poseable flash characters for animation. Just did this one. I have quite a few unfinished characters that I need to work on. Hopefully this is the first of many.

Chef Batali Progression

Was watching Iron Chef America last week and did a quick little doodle of Batali. Was gonna color, then thought maybe I should work on the composition a little, then reworked it yet again... hope ya like. These are in descending order with the top most obviously being the final sketch.

I had wanted to do some more Rambo sketches so I threw this together.

I was too tired to put more into it. I had wanted to do some more today, but not enough time... at least not at the moment. Hopefully over the weekend I'll have time to do more.

John Rambo

Was watching "First Blood" and got inspired to do a JR sketch. I loved that movie as a kid...then they ruined it with the proceeding Rambos...which I didn't like all that much even though I went to see them all lol!

This was one of the sketchies I did... I'm working on some of the angry army fatigued JR. Hopefully I'll have time to post them tomorrow.

The Fonze

While in the hospital last week Happy Days was on so I decided to do a quick sketch of the fonze... i'm probably spelling it wrong : ) Anyway, hope you enjoy.

The sketch was initially done in col-erase then I scanned and resketched in PS.

PS sketches

When it comes to drawing females from the imagination... I suck at it. As a kid when you draw heros you tend not to draw women...at least not me...anyway, i've never been good at developing female characters... for some reason I develop a mental block when trying to come up with poses or characters. The colored drawings were all drawn using the same pose as a template of sorts. I did this as an exercise to see what different characters I could draw using the same pose... just to get my creativity going. Anyway hope you like.

Bad Day @ summer camp

Sorry for the delay in posts... I've been away from a comp for over a week. This is a sketch that just evolved on it's on. I first drew a hand wrapped around an object and this came about. Didn't know what to call it so I thought up a scenerio in my head about summer camp...thus the trees in the bg and the dip in the rope.

Sketchy Character ideas

1. This guy is gonna be some samurai jack spin-off. He's not so much concerned about getting home as he is leaving the disgusting planet that he finds himself on.

2. His name is marbles and he holds the lost scroll of Nambiki faru. He's not the brightest kid on the block so he get's into some situations that most normat giprats would.

3. This guy is a Maurikyan from the planet Snubdar. He's just an average joe getting by in a dead end job situation. Here he's waking up and getting the day started.

4. This guy is part of a Snobby race of aliens who eat with their buttucks. He's sitting on a plate of food grubbing. Since he eats with his lower half the waste no doubt comes out his mouth... but they think everyone else has a problem.
